Patricia Diane Murakami brings to the catering business the best kind of experience…hands on. She grew up running around her family’s Northern Italian, fine cuisine restaurant and has many fond memories. From those childhood experiences she formed the idea that great service, fine food and cooking are the key ingredients to a successful and enjoyable event, and sees to it that her clients’ experience the same.
After working in her family’s restaurant, Patricia began to expand her culinary talents. She developed her skills by cooking for four star restaurant Domain Chandon sparkling winery, Napa Valley, and then moved onto Chinios East/West, in Sacramento to work with renowned Chef David SooHoo. Together, they participated in month long cooking extravaganza at the Parc Lane Hotel in Hong Kong; a two week adventure at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Taipei, Taiwan; the preparation of a benefit dinner at the James Beard House in New York City; an East meets West promotion involving Julia Child; and a “Chefs Holiday” dinner at the Ahwhanee Hotel in Yosemite.
Patricia has earned a number of honors, including grand prize/best of show for a display of California food at the Chefs Association of the Pacific Coast Culinary Arts Exhibit, and an honorable mention at the World Culinary Arts Festival in Vancouver. She is dedicated believer in proper food service management and has completed several certified food service management programs and continues to take professional classes to increase her skills and knowledge.
In between all the above, Patricia was invited to be a guest chef instructor at Le Cordon Bleu, Paris and London as part of their 100 year anniversary celebration. The Paris class was quite an event as the traditional French ingredients and presentations gave way to Patricia’s unconventional but inspiring plate designs and Asian menus. Another major break in tradition was that Patricia became the first woman pastry chef ever to teach at the legendary cooking school.
After traveling the world and cooking with some of the world’s best Chefs, Ambrosia Fine Food was born and has been servicing clients for fourteen years…growing to be one of Sacramento’s premier caterers. Patricia began Ambrosia Fine Food with the fundamentals learned from childhood and experienced in her career…great service, fine food and cooking are key ingredients to a successful and enjoyable event. Ambrosia Fine Food is in the business to deliver Distinctive Catering and Specialty Baking for Every Occasion, and enjoy all that that entails.
